In combination with the Saskatchewan Joint Use Schools Project I, part of the largest school construction project in Saskatchewan’s history—welcoming over 8,000 students across twelve schools. Bundling of the schools, engagement of local subtrades and suppliers, generating some 2,300 new local jobs, resulted in both creative and efficient design as well as the delivery of value of money through estimated savings of $100 million.
Through thoughtful design each building features innovative efficiencies such as large windows to allow more natural daylight, automated lighting systems that adjust to natural light and that turn on and off based on room occupancy, high efficient water fixtures and landscaping designs to reduce water consumption, as well as more accessible recycling capabilities. Of the nine schools across the two Saskatchewan Joint Use School Projects, five were LEED gold certified and four were LEED silver certified.
Under a ‘students first’ mandate, students, teachers, parents, school divisions, community members, and the Whitecap Dakota First Nation were involved in a hands-on design process to develop the school designs. The result included bright and open common areas for student gatherings, large, flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces with technologically advanced resources, as well as community resource space.

About the Saskatchewan Joint Use Schools Project II
In August 2015, Concert Infrastructure led the team that secured the Saskatchewan Joint Use Schools Project II to design, build, finance and maintain 12 schools on six joint use sites in the communities of Saskatoon, Warman and Martensville, Saskatchewan. The schools comprise 911,172 square feet of new building space with capacity for more than 8,000 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 8.
The project is delivered under a public-private partnership model with the Government of Saskatchewan over a 30-year project concession term concluding in 2047 and has a contract value of $401.3 million.
Combined with the Saskatchewan Joint Use Schools Project I, this was the largest school construction project in Saskatchewan’s history.
Concert Infrastructure’s Involvement
In August 2015, Concert Infrastructure secured the opportunity to lead the delivery of the Saskatchewan Joint Use Schools II project under a design, build, finance and maintain project agreement with the concession period concluding in 2047.
Concert Infrastructure holds a 100% equity interest in Joint Use Mutual Partnership #2, the project company responsible for the delivery and management of the project.
