The layouts of the schools are designed so that high performance modular classrooms can be added and removed from the core building as needed. The 10 schools provide shorter commutes for children as well as top-quality buildings to learn in.
An innovative modular design allows for classrooms to be added or removed from the core building as needed, allowing greater flexibility to respond to changes in student enrolment. The permanent core building has the essential elements of a school including a gymnasium, library, administration offices and specialty teaching spaces for subjects such as music, art, science and career and technology studies. The schools were designed and constructed to achieve LEED silver certification. Eight of the ten schools exceeded the requirement and were LEED gold certified.
The schools provide a flexible, modern environment for children to learn and grow, while at the same time meeting the education needs of the growing population and individual learning priorities.

About the Alberta Schools Alternative Procurement II
The Alberta Schools Alternative Procurement II public-private partnership project required the design, build, finance, and maintenance of a total of ten schools in four communities across Alberta. The schools comprise approximately 759,900 square feet of building space with capacity for up to 8,000 students.
The project utilizes a public-private partnership model with the Government of Alberta and has a contract value of $253.0 million. The schools have been in operation since 2012, and the 30-year project concession period that concludes in 2042.

In November 2013, Concert Infrastructure acquired the 100% equity interest in B2L Partnership—the project company responsible for the delivery and management of the project.
