On September 23, Concert Infrastructure joined representatives from the Government of Alberta, Rocky View Schools, the Town of Cochrane, Indigenous community leaders and project partners to mark the start of construction on Rivercrest, a new K–8 school that will create learning space for 905 students.
Designed to support a range of learning experiences, Rivercrest will feature more than 30 instructional classrooms, two science labs and dedicated spaces for art, music, construction technologies, food and drama programming. The school will also include a 700-person gymnasium and a 250-person ancillary gym.
Rivercrest is one of six schools we’re delivering through Alberta P3 Schools Bundle #6, together providing capacity for more than 5,300 students across Calgary, Edmonton, Airdrie and Cochrane. As Concert-Bird Partners, a consortium led and managed by Concert Infrastructure, we’re responsible for the design, construction, financing and long-term maintenance of each school in the bundle.
The ceremony included a blessing from Elder Verna Powderface of Chiniki First Nation, along with remarks from Rocky View Schools and the Government of Alberta — a fitting reflection of the partnerships that make a project like this possible.
As Minister of Infrastructure Martin Long stated in an announcement marking the start of construction:
“Alberta is making strategic investments in school infrastructure to support growing communities. The new Rivercrest school will create much-needed student spaces and serve local families for years to come.”
For Concert Infrastructure, the start of construction is one step in a much longer commitment. Our involvement continues through delivery and long-term maintenance, helping ensure each school performs as intended for the students, staff and communities who will rely on it.
We’re grateful to the Government of Alberta, Rocky View Schools, the Town of Cochrane, community stakeholders and our project partners for the collaboration and expertise helping bring these state-of-the-art schools to life.
We look forward to seeing all six schools take shape as construction continues toward completion in 2028.
