Concert Rides to Conquer Cancer

This past weekend Concert’s team of cyclists made the epic two day, 235 kilometre, trek from Greater Vancouver to Seattle in the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of Concert’s business partners, friends and staff over $107,000 was raised exceeding fundraising goals. Combined with the fundraising of the other 2,870 riders this event brought in over $11.1 million for the BC Cancer Foundation.

Our team, which included Concert’s President Brian McCauley, described the race as both wet and soggy but also a truly amazing experience. Much like the Tour De France, riders naturally broke into small groups known as pelotons, slogged through what nature dealt them and put in full days of exhausting riding. Fortunately the first evening riders were able to enjoy some great food, a hot shower, the services of a masseuse and chiropractor, and even a beer garden before they drifted off to sleep in their tents… the minute they hit the pillow!

A special thank you goes out to the co-workers and friends of Concert who came out to support our riders along the way. For instance Bob Westerman, Executive Vice President of Concert’s seniors community operator Leisure Care, along with his wife surprised our team with snacks and refreshments upon reaching Seattle.
