Concert Infrastructure Makes Further Investment in Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex Project

Vancouver, BC – Concert Infrastructure is pleased to announce the acquisition of Carillion plc’s 50% interest in the Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex (FSCC) in Toronto, Ontario, and specifically the project company CSS (FSCC) Partnership. Having previously held a 50% interest in the project, Concert Infrastructure now wholly owns the project company. As part of the acquisition, Concert Infrastructure has assumed sole responsibility for the management of the project with Carillion Canada remaining the day-to-day facilities management service provider.

This acquisition further supports Concert Infrastructure’s investment strategy of acquiring primary and secondary infrastructure assets as well as managing these assets through the term of their concession.

“Acquiring Carillion plc’s interest in the FSCC is a demonstration of Concert Infrastructure’s commitment,” says David Podmore, Concert Infrastructure’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. “It solidifies our position as a long term developer, investor and manager of Canadian infrastructure assets supported by the financial strength and backing of our Canadian union and management pension plan unit holders.”

The FSCC is one of the world’s largest medico-legal facilities at approximately 663,000 square feet and brings together the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, the Centre of Forensic Sciences, Office of the Fire Marshall and Emergency Management Ontario on one site making collaboration between the units much easier. The facility supports the world-class forensic capabilities that Ontario needs in the years ahead, and accommodates increased capacity for autopsies and forensic science cases.

This LEED Gold project achieved Substantial Completion in early 2013 and continues to be the most advanced facility of its kind in North America. Concert Infrastructure will continue to work closely and in collaboration with Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS), to operate and maintain the FSCC for the remainder of the concession period.
